Danish Instructors Training in Verbier

Lucas and Magnus review their Instructor Training Course in Verbier

Magnus and I both have a season as ski instructors under our belt already, after we spent a season in Canada, where we also did our L1 and L2 certification with Snowminds. Therefore we knew what we wanted out of our second adventure in terms of resort, but also what we wanted in terms of further improving our skiing, and the ski school we would be spending the season with.

Why did you choose Altitude?

The choice quickly fell on Verbier, as we were of course drawn to the off-piste paradise we’d heard so much about, but also the town and its atmosphere.  We knew we wanted to work towards our L3 certification, even if we weren’t going to do the actual exams, Therefore, we looked for the most well-reviewed school and course, and quickly found Altitude.

How did your skiing improve?

Altitude has not only improved our skiing considerably, but also played a substantial part in making our second season absolutely incredible. The coach’s expertise and their educational course of teaching will improve your skiing, and they truly did a wonderful job adapting to our goals. In our case, although we’re both fluent in English, it’s not our first language, and thus many explanations and analogies can quickly get lost in translation, especially in a higher performance level of skiing where things get really technical. The Altitude coaches adapted their style of instructing to make sure we followed along. That’s one example of the incredible expertise we experienced with Altitude.

Their experience with the Verbier resort, and the adjacent valleys, will very quickly get you used to Verbier, which is a big resort and can seem daunting. This helped us both quite a lot as well, as we didn’t need to spend a lot of days figuring the resort out, because the coaches did such a good job to take us around, and make sure we got to know everything.

Did you also work whilst on the Verbier course?

Altitude are one of the largest schools in Verbier and are able to offer some great teaching opportunities within their ski school.  We both enjoyed working throughout the season and felt supported throughout by the Altitude team of instructors and coach’s. In fact there was even a small team of Danish instructors working with Altitude which was also really nice.

It’s really not surprising that the pass level of Altitude Futures students is one of the resort’s highest, as you will undoubtedly get some of the best coaches in the resort as well.
