BASI Level 2 training Verbier

BASI L2 Training Verbier

For the December ‘Gappies’ the last two weeks have been rather busy with training for BASI level 2 getting well underway. As well as training hard we’ve also found time to welcome the January Gap course students, explore the 4 vallées and enjoy Verbier’s best après-ski with the whole Altitude family.

BASI Level 2 Training Verbier

The technical jump from level 1 to level 2 is quite big, but our fantastic trainers from Altitude guided us into the training gently making sure that nobody got left behind. For level 2 as well as further improving our on-piste short and long turns we will be tested on bumps, variables and steeps. This has meant we’ve got to ski far more of the terrain Verbier has to offer, which has resulted in some rather hilarious tumbles down the bumps and itinerary runs! Everyone has really thrown themselves into the training and seen huge improvements in their skiing.

Exploring the 4 Vallées

We also had a day where training was put on hold so that we could get out of the Verbier area and explore the rest of the 4 vallées. I think everyone will agree that this was one of the best days of the course so far; we were able to push our piste skiing to the limits on the downhill run Piste de l’Ours near Thyon and enjoyed skiing the powder between trees at the bottom of Tortin. As well as going to the furthest skiable point in the 4 vallées we ended a fantastic day by heading up to the highest point in the 4 vallées, Mont Fort.

Farinet Après-Ski

Après-ski at the Farinet bar has become a definite favourite for the Altitude Gap students so it seemed the obvious place to go for a bit of Altitude Futures bonding. All the Gap students (December and January) and the Altitude instructors met in Pub Mont Fort after training, then we headed down to Farinet. It was a great night with drinks flowing and lots of dancing (including on the stage and bar!); definitely one to be repeated.
We’re now seven weeks into the Gap course and still enjoying everything Verbier has to offer as well as getting ready to take our BASI level 2 exams and looking forward to the chance to work for Altitude when the course finishes!
